Today is the day! Not only is it Halloween, but it’s time for some PANICKING. Why should you panic? Because spiders and skeletons and ghosts and ghouls will all be coming alive before your very eyes at this year’s Panic on Pendrith! As previously mentioned, we have a bunch of new scares for this year, including Spider Alley and Haunted Hollograms.
A lot of work goes into this event. Why do we do it? Why do we spend all this time making hand carved tombstones, tons of carved pumpkins, and all the other effects when you’ll only get to see them for one night?
Simple: We scare because we care!
This event collects donations for SickKids Foundation. There are many children who don’t get to enjoy this spooktacular day, as they are stuck in the hospital. But we can help get them the best treatment possible. The Hospital for Sick Children has helped numerous Benevents friends and their children. They have received excellent care. But there’s always more to be done. If you are coming to the haunt, we kindly ask that you consider donating whatever you can. Simply look for the donation pumpkin. You can’t miss it.
We also go to all this trouble so that children in the neighbourhood will grow up with fond memories. Seeing a child laugh, or possibly scream (it is a haunt afterall) gives us such delight. So, with that, I will leave you with some lyrics from our all-time fave Halloween jam, “This is Halloween” from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Which by the way is totally a Halloween movie and not Christmas and if anyone says otherwise, you can send them our way!
“Boys and girls of every ageWouldn’t you like to see something strange?Come with us and you will seeThis, our town of Halloween! This is Halloween, this is HalloweenPumpkins scream in the dead of nightThis is Halloween, everybody make a sceneTrick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of frightIt’s our town, everybody screamIn this town of Halloween”
